I wouldn't. Miatas are a piece of crap to begin with and you don't need to lose any more value. Use the $8k to put towards a better car.

I work with Mazdas all the time so trust me when i say this. No. it is not a good idea to turbocharge an 01 miata. HOWEVER if you like your miata and just want it to go faster find an 05 MAZDASPEED miata, theyre turbocharged by the factory and push over 200HP without losing any value. Theyre great cars and will run forever and be a lot of fun doing it. I have on on the lot to the dealership i work with now and i drive it about once a week just for fun. You wont find a better drive than that.

unless you're really set on a Miata, I would say you'd be better off just buying a different car. 8k for a 100hp really isn't great added to the 113hp you already have. For 8k plus the price you could get if you sold the car you could get one with far more potential with money still left over. Miatas are good for cone dodging though.

definite and no. With any 20 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous motor vehicle there'll be issues. The engine could be sturdy for yet another 40000 miles (5 years for many drivers). yet at 210000 miles it particularly is due for a timing belt, water pump and significant seals. which may be yet another 500 to one thousand money to get carried out. do no longer think of i'm down on Miata's (I very own 2, the two ninety's), i'm in basic terms being real looking. there are countless different vehicles available on the marketplace at this greenback parent that are extra effectual buys. yet for a Miata this is honest shape, to 3 individual who needs to repair one, or use to apply for components, it particularly is an somewhat sturdy fee even at 2400 money.

Only if you want to rebuild the engine and beef up the lower end of the engine, and beef up the transmission, and the rear end, and the drive shaft, and maybe you want to look at the brakes too, they may need to upgraded to handle the stopping power.
Do you see where I'm going with this????? It's a lot of money to put in the car, and if you're not going to go all the way then you'd best just let it ride. It may be cheaper just to trade it and get a Mustang GT then you've got a good start on the power.

It depends on what you use it for. if its for street racing, and you do turbo charge it, and the cops impound it, then you're screwed. If its for showing off, then its a big investment just to get a girlfriend or boyfriend.
