Ahhh, the ever-present philosophical quandary. At the heart of the question is the definition of "sound." If we approach the question from a rather self-absorbed, egoistic position and define sound as that which we ('we' being humans) are able to discern, then "no" it does not make a sound. If, on the other hand, we are willing to take a more selfless and scientific approach, then we will realize that sound is not dependent upon our ability to hear/identify it and therefore any tree falling anywhere makes a sound. To finish with an example, I've never heard the sound from my dog whistle, but I asked my dog if it does in fact make a sound and he looked at me as if I were a fool and cursed me. . .

If I was deaf and blind do things all around me not existing? We have other senses, for example we know that always some trees must fall doing noise, if not, the forest can't renew itself.

Well, I'm just going over all of this in my philosophy class so, according to Locke, he'd say no because sound is a secondary quality, but Hume later argues that point. Probably doesn't help but none of the philosophers can agree so how can we know!

yes, it does make a sound... its proven in newtons laws and the laws of energy.... its the law of sound energy and it states that everything has particules and when the particules split on impact it creates sound vibrations which of course allows us to hear everything but since its in the woods the vibrations are bouncy off of everything and are stoppes everntually so yes it does make a sound
