I've never been sent home. But I did once accidentally splash gasoline on my pants and went home to change because the smell was making me sick. I called into work once I got home to explain why I was going to be late.

No but a was foreman over a shop and this young guy back in the store room had his out pumping it with his hand ,he was all laid back on some boxes. and i told him to get back to work and he said ,in just a minute. i am almost thru. and i didnt fire him.

Nice technique...I will remember this in my hour of need.
I was sent home once when I smelled like rotting food...a vase with old flowers fell on my lap...the water was like two weeks old, you can imagine what that smelled like.
