Church this day and time is mainly to meet friends most of whom will stab you in your back as soon as you are out of their sight, and to show off what they have or how well they can dress.
Church never saved anyone anymore than going to McDonald's and calling your self a Christian does. To be a Christian one must accept Jesus in their hearts as their Lord and Savior. Although some churches help with this most only tickle ears with cute stories and sermons with little meat to them.
I am personally a very born again Christian and in my 60+ years I have been taught by many of the leading ministries in the USA. I have learned that basically all do a pretty good job of the basic teachings but when you get down to where the rubber meets the road they call it "sin" and tell you that you are going to hell if you do this or that; when it truly is not. Even if they do know, and most don't, they would never tell you the absolute truth of Jesus and the Christian belief.
At least that is my opinion...based on some 30 to 40 years of learning and researching.

A person should attend church to worship their savior, fellowship with other Christians, learn the bible as it's read by the pastor and sing to the lord. If there are those out there attending church for the wrong reasons such as showing off a lifestyle or whatever god will give them a life test that may result in those people to turn their life around for Christ and really understand what going to church is really all about.

Organized religion is a farce. To me. I don't go to church. For the simple reason, I was raised and baptized lds. And unless I pay tithing and pay fast offering, even if i don't have any money coming in, I don't get any help. If I didn't go to church every Sunday, I didn't get help. I don't see why I should have to pay to go to church. I have the bible at home. I believe in God. But yes, people go to show off what they have. How good they can sing. But yes, also to make new friends. Or maybe to find someone who believe in the same things they do. Find a mate. =P

I think there are many reasons. I know people who only go to church to meet people they can do business with. I actually know far too many people like that.
When I was young we went to a small church in a dirt poor town. The collection was just enough to keep the lights on. The pastor has several other churches because he couldn't make enough money preaching at just one. People went because they enjoyed sharing their faith with each other. It was like a large family where people loved and cared for each other. I don't know how much of that you find in church these days.

Some people go to church so that they can be seen going to church.
I've seen politicians and social climbers do this many times. They are seeking a certain status within a certain segment of society, so they "publicly" worship, making sure that anyone who is "anyone" knows that they attend.
I also know a lady who absolutely never misses church, because, "What would people think"? Never mind that fact that she doesn't pay a bit of attention to the service itself.

Everyone needs to nurture their soul and many people do it in different ways. Some go to church, some choose to be around nature, and some meditate in silence alone. If we ignore the spiritual realm, it's just like ignoring any other essential part of our lives, such as diet, exercise, etc.

No. Not any of what is listed under your question. The reason people go to church is to fellowship with other Christians. But if you/they aren't saved that doesn't mean you shouldn't go to church. Even unsaved people go to church. And if your not saved but go to church that DOESN'T make you a Christian!! A Christian is someone who has accepted Christ as their personal Savior. People who aren't saved and go to church could be come saved. Because God could talk to that person while they listen to the massage.
I hope this helps!!!!! And I hope don't you think I'm being to pacific about this!! Thanks (for not thinking I'm to pacific)and Your Welcome (for me answering your question)!!!

Same reason people go to school or Boot Camp. To learn. To gain knowledge and use it in their everyday life. The bible is a sword and so to be able to wield this magnificent weapon, we need a teacher (the Pastor). We Learn and live. So now we are able to face the spiritual battles in our life and succeed in this spiritual war. God Bless. Love. Amen.

Well, some want the first, some do it to please their parents and other relatives, some just do it out of habbit, some are looking for hope or some sort of good in the world, and others just need something to believe in.
