I have got a Ford KA & it is 3 years old. My car is running fine & does well on motorways, esp in 5th gear. Think it may be or gearbox or clutch. sounds like one of them might be burning out !! Get it checked out at your nearest garage !!

it could be just where oil has spilled on the engine and when it gets really hot like climbing hills or going fast on motorway it starts to give a burning smell. maybe just check if there is any oil around the engine, and if there is just go and steam wash it down, hope this is of some help to you. brian

My old fiat ullyse had this problem mainly uphill it had a real bad burning smell, and gradually got worse and worse, £350 for a new clutch.
