This is an older vehicle. The latch to pop open the hood is worn out, so I have to pull alot to get it to click. When I try to pull the leaver in the front of the vehicle it doesnt seem to pop. Can someone help me figure this out n figure out the trick in opening it. I really need to get in there, my battery is dead.

the latch is actually located at the front of the hood. if the cable is bad you will have to manually release the hood using needle nose pliers and pulling where the cable connects at the latch. once this is done the hood will raise up in front a little. then you have to push on the lever connected to the latch and pull hood forward. then you can raise hood the rest of the way.

if the latch itself is damaged and wont release, the latch pin connected to the hood will have to be cut off using caution not to damage hood or core support (latch mount). then open hood and replace damaged pieces.

Can you go up underneath the front fender and push the hood up? It's the only thing I can think of. My dad had a cadillac that did that once.
