i had a pc for a few years now which came with w media player which i have found to be totally useless it crashes continuiosly an has nothing to offer most media it cannot open . WHY is it just me ?

Windows Media sucks!!! I use Jukebox now, and that's a whole lot easier to use and the sound quality is simply amazing.

Well, you can do 2 things:
1.- reinstall windows (If you have many other failures.The hard way)
2.- Download realplayer.- it's free and better than media player. Does the same and more www.realplayer.com. This is the easy way

I think it's just you. You should download the new player at http://windowsmedia.com It comes with the latest codecs and has a nice design.

Best video player is video lan player.
If you want a playlist for music and such use winamp.
You can google either.

Well, if it crashes a lot, your computer sucks.
As for it not playing "most" media.. You should download a codec pack.
