I just got this job literally as a traveling saleswoman selling magazines and I absolutely hate it. Because it takes a lot of manipulation and persuasion. I"m not that type of person. So how do I become effective at this....finding a new job is a thought already in the works but while i'm here and until my new job comes along...any tips for me?

i would suck at that! i think i would be the wrost saleswoman ever! when i was in high school someone convinced me to start selling avon! i even sucked at that! i hated it!!! well, my friend was a saleswoman for a scrapbooking company and she put her whole heart into her products. you could tell she truely believed in what she was selling, she loved the products so much!!! she would tell us about the stuff as if friend to friend, and would tell us some stuff about overpriced things and crappy things...to show how honest she really was. so if i were you i would try that with the magazines. talk about articles you "read" in a magazine, or how your mom ordered this every year for fifteen years. or how your niece just loves her highlights magazine and looks forward to it, and the bonding it has created between you and her. just try to make it personal. sometimes you will knock on the door of someone who has no friends and will really want a friend. be her friend, sell her some magazines. then there will be the single mom who is dying for woman to woman contact. offer to hold her baby for a few minutes while she sits down. praise her baby, talk to her about whatever you can think of that she can relate to. give her some much needed woman to woman contact...something other than "want your baba?" and "someone made a stinky". just have fun with it. yes, it is a sucky job and i have never done it. i know i wouldn't last a day! good luck and i hope you find another job reaaaaaal soon!

I sell Mary Kay and thought the product sells itself i find that I make the best sales because people like me. When they like you they listen, have fun with it while you are doing it make fun of the things you don't like people will appreciate your honesty and like your lightheartedness
