I am a freight broker trucks do not get paid by the hour they get paid by the mile. some companies that will guarantee to take a load anywhere get paid 3-4 dollars a mile. If you want to get paid well get bonded a bid military freight they pay very well. we have loads that pay as little as 95C a mile and as much a 10 dollars depending on what they are and where they are going. leasing to a company means that they are taking anywhere from 7 to 17% off the top you do the math.

Which is why you pinch you pennies, nickels and dimes. You save up and get another truck or two, pay the driver but not so much you don't make a profit. Make sure you claim all the duductions and get those tax loopholes the Republicans worked so hard for.
You get someone to drive FOR you, or you go to the Gulf of Persia/Arabian countries, and drive there for Halliburton, get some of that money they robbed the US taxpayers blind. Then you figure a way to pay the company driver so you have some profit left over.

I called Babbette over at the Georgia Works place (another outfit that robs the taxpayers blind--what jobs do they bring us?) but she must have gone home early. Nice job if you can get it.

You get paid milege not hourly. The only way you get paid hourly is if you're stuck somewhere and it's not your fault. Then it depends on the company. Based on ave trucker make .50 per mile and an ave of 60 mph it would be 30 per hour. The person leased to big company is getting hurt because they get paid per load.

I always thought you were paid by the mile...... Not by the hour.

But I could be wrong. $60 sounds about right, but it depends on each company.
