Well, I am a competitive dancer, and last year at New England Dance Festival, I saw a lyrical dance to the sond "Concrete Angel", You could do that song if you want a really serious song. Also if you are looking for another good song Kelly Clarkson is good, you could do "Breakaway" or Because of You" Good Luck competing!

Some of my favorite lyrical dances were to these songs:
Take My Hand- Shawn McDonald
Save Me From Myself- Christina Aguilera
Sideways- Citizen Cope
Son's Gonna Rise- Citizen Cope
Bullet and a Target- Citizen Cope
Let Go- Frou Frou
Everytime- Brittney Spears
Bring Me Flowers- Hope
Fallen- Sarah McLachlan
Check those out, see if any reach out to you. To make your dance good, be sure you really feel the music, emotionally. =]

You don't say here what type of dance you'll be doing, but how about Will Smith's oldie/goodie "Get Jiggy Wid It?" Or the beautiful slow one hit wonder by Patrick Swayze, "She's Like the Wind?" Like Reggae? One Love by Bob Marley!! Yeah, Mon! Here's a really fun one from the oldies' vault..."I'm Your Boogie Man" by KC & the Sunshine Boys. Finally, how about "I Like the Way You Move" by Outkast?

what kind of dance? like an interpretive dance? my sister used to do "human videos" in church which is basically an interpretive dance on a competitive level. there are tons of contemporary christian songs that are serious and have great lyrics.
