One of my good friends depants (not underwear) a boy in fun as a joke...OMG, she got 1 week out-of-school suspension and was kicked off the volleyball team (which is her life)....We are in 8th grade and everyone is mad!!! Even the boy that was depantsed thinks it is too harsh! We are thinking about forming a protest (peaceful of course)...Is there anything else we can do?

if you have a teacher in charge of the grade, go and see them and explain what it is that you think is unfair, then perhaps talk to someone on the student council about appealling disipline decisions. i understand you all think this is no big deal but it was still not an appropriate thing for her do and some form of reprimand was required

It is harsh, but imagine if the tables were turned. What if it had been her.

Somehow it seems when things are done to boys they are less serious. Your friend made a very stupid mistake, but better learn her lesson now then in H.S. where it could ruin her college chances.

And I would avoid any form of protest. The school can not afford to let students think that any type of protest will result in them getting their way. It will only cause them become more resolved in their punishment and any leniency would be quickly dropped.

Perhaps the whole volleyball team can propose that if she is allowed back on the team the whole team would be willing to go through sexual harassment classes and that she has to complete all the work she missed, even if it is for no credit. That is the type of action that will be more inclined to motivate the school to reconsider. (The out-of-school suspension may not be negotiable).

You absolutely can not make them feel that you question their authority. But respect it and want to work within it. Do not protest it in anyway. Schools are not democracies!!

I'm sure the reason the punishment was as harsh as it was, was because of sexual harrasment rules. You need to see the positive in this situation.. the rule is being enforced and it seems to be enforced fairly. Imagine the repercussions if the situation was reversed and a boy had done this to a girl at school. People would be very upset if the guy got a slap on the wrist.

Unfortunatly, I don't think there is much you are going to be able to do to change the administration's mind. If they back down they are afraid that they will be seen as weak and anytime students don't agree with a disciplinary measure there could be chaos.

If you fell that strongly about it, ask for a meeting with the administration, involving the parties involved. Do not come in fired up and emotional. They will be more open to having a rational discussion.

I think it would be up to her parents to fight this on her behalf. As a student, you should just take this as a lesson on pranks involving each others clothing.
