Turn off your TV for news unless you want the same sound bites repeated till you are sick and depressed. If you want news try lots and different news sites on the web or read a quality big city newspaper.

It depends on the viewer. Some people are truly enteratined by watching the news. However, news reporting is usually factual and stories that are presented are generally in the interest of the audience.

That's right. Its main purpose is to gain revenue, not to inform. That is why there is so much sensationalism and celebrity news, and so little substance about things that are important.
