I've heard many reports of Londoners being unfriendly to foreigners. However, as an American who lived in London for some time I experienced very much the opposite. I mean the average Londoner on the street isn't always friendly, people like to mind their own business on the bus and tube but that is true of any city. In the pubs and restaurants though people would hear my accent and approach me with all kinds of questions about America and how I liked London. I made loads of friends and never encountered any negative reactions because I was a foreigner. Everyone just seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say about my country and theirs. I did receive some negative feelings in Barcelona because of being foreign, but London was great. I think you will fit in in no time. Most people in London aren't actually FROM London anyway and the city is far too diverse to be intolerant. The key is to just be open-minded, not act like a "dumb tourist" and not think you're better than everyone else. Basically if you use common sense you will be accepted and have a wonderful time! Good Luck! Cheers.

I visited England only once, sadly.

I spent most of my time in The Borders but also had a week in London.

Everyone I met in London (and The Borders, as well) was pleasant and helpful.

I'm sure there are unpleasant people in England but they all seemed to be elsewhere when I was there.

The UK is amazing. I'd retire there if I could.
