When my son was 4 months it was the same way. In fact the weight and height are almost identical. My son is know 9 months and is still at the upper edges of the percentiles, but he's slowing down. Taking him into the grocery and other stores was difficult, we had him in a convertable care seat but kept the other carrier in the car for the grocery store. You could also try stuffing blankets around her to keep her upright.
You won't have to do this for long, she will be sitting on her own very soon.
good luck.

If the doctor isn't concerned, then you shouldn't be either. My son was about that size at that age, maybe even a little bigger. What I ended up doing as far as the car seat goes is I had to get a car seat that you can use as a backward facing and foward facing car seat. The one that I have has different incline settings, so when my son was that young, I had it facing the rear and leaning all the way back so he could use it even if he couldn't sit up by himself. That was a lifesaver to me and he still uses the car seat now (he's almost 2). It sometimes works out better without a carrier because the baby seems like they weigh less and you don't have a big bulky thing to carry around along with the baby bag, purse, etc. Good luck!

Hi there...
Yes she is "big" for her age, but obviously your doctor thinks it's fine, so try not to worry. My daughter has the opposite problem, she's small for her age (14 lbs and 27.5" at 6 months old) but like you, my doctor isn't concerned.
About the carseat thing...you'll need to get a convertable carseat that can be used rear facing, and when you go shopping at places like Target or Walmart, they have those carts with the foam padded infant seat in them. When you use those you will want to bring some disinfectant wipes and wipe it down, you never know what is lurking in those things. I know it's not an ideal situation but it's better than nothing. The other option is take your stroller with you.
Here's a link to the carseat I got, I LOVE it and it was a really great price:

Good luck to you!!

My son weighed about this much around 4 months and I had the same problems. When I would take him to the stores with me I would use one of the buggies that has a carrier on it, I would just put a blanket over it to keep the germs away, and when the buggy wasnt available had to use his stroller.
I also have a convertible car seat in my car, it is rear facing up to 35 lbs and is forward facing up to 100lbs. At 6 months my son weighed just shy of 21 lbs.

she is a big girl, but that ok, you also didnt mention how big she was a t birth. my son at 4 months was 13lbs and 26in.(6.4lb 18.5 in at birth) also she has not outgrown her infant carseat quite yet, but she is getting close. most newborn carseats are for up to 25lbs and 29inches. you can go by a rear/front facing car seat that is for 5-40lbs just make sure you have it facing to the rear. believe i know how heavy those infant carseats can be...right now i just take my son out of his carseat whenever we go anywhere.

I have a friend who is in the same situation. They keep the infant carrier on hand and only use it when they are going to the store. Once and awhile carring it isn't as bad.

All babes progress at different rates. She will be fine. You can try one of those slings or front/back packs to carry her in.
