Go to Boots or debenhams and ask for a product demonstration. If you tell them you are getting married, they will bend over backwards to help you. I did this with Boots when I got married and bought Revlon products and applied them on the day just like the Boots lady had shown me how. They will guide you as to the best colours and products for your skin type. Both stores also, very often, have offers where you buy two products and get a free gift (Clinique and No 7 do this a lot). The free gift will have make up in and using it will give you a feel for the quality of the product and is suitable if you have an average skin tone.

I have just finished a beauty course in make-up and if you can afford it, it's best to hire a professional to do your make-up as bridal make-up is different from normal everyday make-up, and there are ways of making it last longer.
If you are unable to do this, I suggest you go to a chainstore like House of Fraser, Debenhams, John Lewis, Boots, Allders: they have Beauty Consultants who you can get advice from about bridal make-up. It's worth a go asking them about samples. If you do end up buying a product, they may even offer you other gifts, which has happened to me before. After all, it is you big day.
