Losing weight takes time, there is no quick and easy fix, unfortunately. Getting in shape for softball tryouts is a good motivator. Please don't count on 5-10 pounds per week - that is too much and not healthy. I would recommend that you talk to your family doctor about a plan of diet and exercise that is safe for someone your age. Your body needs certain nutrients, and your doctor can help you with the foods that are good, and also what to cut out. I found I need to do some sort of exercise right away when I get up in the morning. If I take even one day off, it is an excuse to give up. Walking is a really good exercise, and doesn't cost you a dime - you can even walk in place in front of the tv, or on a treadmill. Be careful and take good care of yourself through this process - people care about you! I am sorry you have the experience of kids making fun of you - they can be so cruel. Good luck - I know you can do it!

:-( Your question really makes me sad. I was just like you. I was larger and in school and I use to get made fun of all the time.
First, I know your young and probably wont take what I say to heart BUT it is NOT healthy for you to loose more than 1-2 lbs a week. Anything else and it is bad for your health, heart and most likely will come back as soon as you start to eat regular again.
Second, if someone doesnt like you for who you are, screw them. It's not you weight that should make people like or dislike you, its the person that you are. You will realize this when you get a little older.
Third, If you want to loose weight, try the book that worked for me, It's called "The CalorieKing Calorie, Fat & Carbohydrate Counter 2007 Edition".
Loosing weight is not something that should happen overnight. It takes time to do it the healthy way. If your serious, read this book. It helps you make better decisions when ordering out and consuming things in moderation. Sorry, there is no quick solution.
Good luck and be smart about your body hun. Nobody else will take care of it for you but you.

Losing 5 to 10 pounds a week in unrealistic. If you stick with a healthy diet and do some simple walking or other exercise every day for 30 minutes, you can expect to lose between 1-3 lbs a week. Try South Beach - I lost about 30 lbs but it did take me 5 months. Good luck!

I think that you should really get on a strict diet. Try eating healthier foods for breakfast lunch and dinner. Work out about 20 minutes after every meal. The simplest things can be done to lose wait such as taking a walk in the park or going for a bike ride with your friends. Make it creative but for the best part of the diet, have fun!

Speak with your doctor and/or a nutritionist. Together you can create a weight loss plan that's not only most effective but healthy and safe.
Some quick tips that can get you on your way:
No soda, soft drinks.
Drink water eight times a day.
Eat less carbs (grains).
No fried foods.
Less eating out and more home cooked meals complete with steamed or boiled vegetables.
Eat three times a day (full meals, no nibbling)
Walk everywhere, jog twice a week
Limit candy/treats (going cold turkey will only force an urge)
Stick to your plan, the outcome will pay off.

You need to talk with a doc about what would be right for you!! Stay away for the junk foods and start walking!!! Do not rush it, take it slow at 1st!! Then you can increase your exercise!!! Good luck and do not let anyone make fun of you, they are just jealous!!! You have to learn to love yourself before anyone else will!!!

Drink water instead of juices or soft drinks, try to work out every day, even if it is a walk or a jog. Don't eat three hours before bedtime and watch what you eat, try to eat healthy. Good luck with soft ball, it is good that you are getting into sports
