My 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee vibrates when I am at a stop light. If I put it in neutral, it's fine. After driving it for awhile it will not do it any more, unless car sits for a couple of hours. This doesn't occur during the summer.

Just did a minor tune up, checked motor mounts.

It's the Alignment. Go to your local dealer and ask them to check the alignment. I had that vibrating problem too and I knew right away that it was a problem with the Alignment.

A couple of things to check:

1. Engine mount. The engine is held in place to the frame with bolts and brackets. The brackets will have rubber inserts to cusion the engine. The brackets need to be checked (there should be at least 6) to insure they are bolted down, that a bracket is not broken or missing, and the rubber is in all brackets.

2. If your engine has it, the Throttle Body may need cleaning. Mechanics can show you or tell you where it is and this would be your simplest solution.

3. Bad oil or cheap oil or a car with a lot of miles may be the cause. If you use an inferior oil or do not change oil often the pistons and other parts may not be getting enough oil or, if a really cheap oil is used, the oil will not stay on the engine parts very long and drain off quickly therefore taking its time to again get back up to the vital parts the oil is lubricating. A bad oil or fuel pump may also be the culprit.

4. Spark Plugs/Tune Up. You may also check your spark plug wires. If you have never replaced them and you have a lot of miles, do so. You can also open your hood while the car is running and you can check to see if the wire (usually down by the spark plug) is sparking. If so you have a wire shorting out and not firing properly. You can easily see the sparks at night. I believe you have electronic ignition, but you still need to change plugs as recommended.

When is the last time you had your oil changed or checked the oil level? Also, when was the last time your car had a tune up and new spark plugs? A cold engine with low or old oil may act like that. You spark plugs may also be gummed up or the wires to them might not like cold temps. I hope this helps you track down what is going on.
