There will be lots and lots of questions regarding the family history (yours & the father's). You may get a pap smear if you haven't already and they will try to pick up the heartbeat with a doppler. Don't get upset if you can't hear anything....it's still a little early. They will also send you for some bloodwork.

With my 1st visit they asked for family history and filling out a bunch of paperwork, inform you about the hospital you will be delievering, do a pap smear if you haven't had on recently, urine test, a sonogram, 3 vials of blood for testing, a vaginal exam and they will also take your weight. The doctor or nurse will tell you when your next visit will be or have you scheduled another visit in 4 weeks. They will also cover the basics of pregnancy and give you pamphlets or booklets of info to come (especially what type of medicines are okay to take during pregnancy) and answering any questions you have at the time.

Be sure to write down any questions you have for them and call them whenever you feel.

My nurse gave me contact number so if anything every came up as well as the Dr.'s number.

Surprise they do all of this when they confirmed your pregnancy like they did with me at 8 weeks but I guess every place is different.

Good Luck & Congratulations

They will be able to try and find the baby's heartbeat with a dopplar. Do not be too scared if they can't find it yet because it is early still but they will try. They will do a pap smear, and a vaginal exam. They will also draw your blood, with me it was 3 viles for tests that you need. They will ask a lot of family history questions and other questions and tell you what you need to know. Write down any questions you may have for them to answer.

i got to hear my baby's heartbeat at 10 weeks also, but thats becuase i was being admitted into the hospital for severe morning sickness, id say that they will check for the heartbeat, and either do the sonogram, or schedule one
