(I'm not sure if anyone has asked this before), but should politicians be role models?

I ask this because of commericial where the kids are saying "my dad told me to never break a promise...". After thinking about this, why would anyone want to become a political figure, because then your known as a liar, a cheat, and a thief and have to prove your not. Thoughts?

Elected officials ARE role models by nature of serving the public , whether they desire that role or not. And the majority of them have no problem w being role models, & are good ones despite efforts by so many cynical souls to paint them all as liars, thieves, fools , idiots , etc.

The bigger question is in the second part of your post....Why would someone subject themselves & their family to so much inane & undocumented ridicule & abuse from folks without the courage to be leaders themselves??
