Solids and liquids are not compressible because the molecules are very close together
They both keep their volume(a gas will expand to fill the container, liquids and solids do not)
Being matter, they do have mass and take up space(volume) but so does a gas

Hi,
It (they) could be made of the same type of matter, just in differeing states.
Example: H2O liquid state = water, H2O Solid state = ice, H2O vapor state= gas. This is all based on the Heat Energy contained within the matter involved. The Fouth State of matter is Plasma. Seldom talked about in basic Chemistry.

they can both consist of the same particles just in different states
the basic atomic structure does not change when an element or occaisonly a substance changes from solid to liquid or vica versa

There are many. They can be made out of the same exact thing (water/ice.) They both have mass. etc.etc.
