i think it's a few things. First after all that dieting they do for their wedding dresses, the stress of the wedding is finally gone, and they have time to just relax. Second, you are happy, moving in with someone, being just the two of you. Third, going out a lot to restaurants and eating out. I don't think people should gain too much, but i think a few pounds is completely normal. BUT i do think some women do let go of themselves..which i don't agree with.

I think that some women become comfortable in the marriage so they are less scared of putting on a few pounds. I personally have never put on weight except for pregnancy weight and I lost that right away. I know my husband would be fine with me putting on weight but I like looking and dressing a certain way. I still go to the gym everyday like I used to and get dressed up before I leave the house but that is because I feel good when I look good and I also like to remain attractive for my husband.

Men do the same thing too; or hasn't anyone noticed? Where did those pecs go?

If women get pregnant and start having babies after marriage; she will pack on the pounds.
1. Her own body will put extra fat on her to cushion the baby (and future babies) in case she falls. Once that part of the brain is switched on, it doesn't switch off.
2 She no longer has time to devote to herself. Life is going to be very busy.

However; once a married woman starts having babies, she should be aware that she needs to take care of her health and NOT lose herself in the marriage. When she knows this; she will take care of who she is and how she looks (for herself). It can be done but it takes major effort. It's easier to be beautiful when you are young and single; than when you're trying to juggle family, work, and home. Good Luck ladies!

Stress can be a major factor of weight gain. You may not feel stressed but with marriage you always think ahead about different things like how to keep him happy, how to keep yourself together to keep him interested, the possibility of kids. When marriage comes into your life, you always think ahead and sometimes just worry a lot because you're not just taking care of yourself anymore. It's always a good idea to plan me-time whenever the opportunity pops up. (For example, when the guys go out.) Very important to keep the stress at a normal level.

Not all women gain weight. but some do and yes its because they no longer have to "hunt and capture" the man. Some belevie that once they have him they don't need to do anything to keep them.

I how ever think the opposite, Im not married but live with my man for 5 years and I am still the same size and weight from the day we met. I want to stay in shape so I can keep him coming home everynight.

I think that you get happy and comfortable, plus you start eating like your mate. I used to eat really healthy until I moved in with my husband. Now I have gained so much weight from him that I call my "husband weight" then I had a baby about a year ago and still have 10 pounds from that...

It is true, we married women do allow ourselves to gain the weight. I have put on 25+ pounds since I was married 5 years ago and I can tell that it has affected our marriage. SO ALL YOU SINGLE WOMEN ABOUT TO GET MARRIED...WATCH YOUR APPEARANCE BECAUSE IT DOES MATTER IN THE LONG RUN. Not only for your spouse but for your confidence and self esteem...which I struggle with now.
