What word am I trying to to think of?

What is the word for the words used in a story? I keep wanting to say dialogue or context but neither of those are right! The word is on the tip of my tongue but i just cant think of it

i would say either narration or context. Plot wouldn't be right, but other than that i have no clue. Maybe if you go to thesaurus.com and search narration, dialogue or context, u'll find wut u r looking for.
