It is NOT a source of accurate informationall the time, but it is a public FORUM which seeks to admit all opinions and views in a variety of disciplines, the arts, the sciences and ohilosophy and many others. It does not claim to be final and it EXPRESSLY staes that some pieces are subject to proper editing and it asks readers to go to connected links at the end of the articles. These links are written by people eminently qualified to give their well-researched views. The whole concept of having a forum like Wikipaedia where everyone has an access to air their views is in tune with modern university teaching. After all that is what colleges, schools and other educational bodies do- you present a paper, stae your views and seek the tutor's help in evolving a logical treatise. I hope that this helps. Remember, I am not doing any promotional work. Thank you.

I find it to be a good source of info for the random questions I have. Anything I look up, a wikipedia page is one of the first links from the search engine.

I guess it's kinda good unless you're doing a report of something. One person could add false information about the topic you have and you could use it and then get an F on the paper. But other than that, it's a great site.

As i've stated in a previous Wikipedia question, I don't find it to be reputable, or a great source for detailed info. Check out this link for yahoo news to see what they are stating about Wikipedia:

I think it's a great source of obscure information. I think it's *mostly* correct. Enough to satisfy my own curiosity, but I wouldn't use it a source for say.. a college paper, or anything like that. The information may not be 100% accurate.

Excellent. You have to beware of the information given but that is true of any source.
I look up various things, from current celebrites to historical figures to UK towns I fancy visiting to a state map of the USA.

it's not really anything --- it's just what people know or what they THINK they know. anyone can put anything on wikepedia, so you shouldnt really use it as a reference source. it could say the the great white whales just learned to talk or that there was a unicorn found in the red wood forests, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's true

Parts are well written by experts in the field and other parts are not reliable. If you are not an expert, you don't know whether you are getting good of bad info.
