Spring does start in a few weeks according to the calendar, but spring in Minnesota--specifically the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul--usually starts at the end of March, but it can still snow in April and May making SPRING a long running production that can take weeks up to a month!

That's what makes SPRING in Minneapolis so wonderful! You don't know WHEN it will arrive, but usually it's just after most of the snow has melted, the temp's have been in the 50's for a week and it has been sunny. The number of people walking and running around the lakes in the city has gone from a few dozen to a few hundred, and there's a scent in the air that doesn't come any other time of year...new growth. Reminding you why it's so great to live in a city where the seasons are so different.

For example, the high and low temps for the month of March ten years ago was: HIGHEST DAILY... 66 degrees ON MAR 27th and the LOWEST DAILY.... -4 on MAR 15 (That's 4 below zero--see 2nd link below for temp data for the last ten years.)

Happy Spring! (Fingers crossed....)

Spring starts in Minneapolis at the same time as every other city in the northern hemisphere. In the southern hemisphere it is the start of Fall.
