I have 93 Corolla. When ever the engine is not running, the engine light and the oil light are on. When I do start the engine, it goes off until I stop it. again. I hope this is normal. I'm not having any problems with this car.

Ok, I may have misunderstood what you are saying, but, if you are saying that when you turn your key to the "On" position, the lights come on, then when you start the engine it, they turn off. And when you shut off the engine, and go to start it again, it does the same, and it does this all the time. That is normal, what happening is that when you turn the key to the "On" position, all the caustion lights should light up, this shows you that the lights themselfs work, so that if something does go wrong, you know the light will light up. As long as that light does not come on while the engine is runing, you are ok.

If I have misunderstood you, please consult your local ASE certified mechanic and have him pull the code if the light comes on during operation of the vehicle, or if you feel that there may be an issue. The vehicle running fine is not any reason to believe there is nothing wrong. I hope this helps, Good Luck.

The verify engine ordinary is your vehicle telling you that there is something incorrect along with your vehicle. if you're actually no longer lower than assure, then i could advise going to a community Autozone or similar vehicle aspects save to have the OBD-II mistakes codes examine. (Such shops will examine the codes for loose, contained in the wish that perhaps you'll use them to purchase the aspects to fix the project.) once you recognize what the project is, you are able to restore it. the mistakes code may be for something elementary like your gas cap wasn't seated suitable, or it will be a caution that your engine or transmission is about to die in case you save driving on it... If something elementary, you also could have the kept codes deleted (thereby turning off the verify engine ordinary). stress round somewhat with the ordinary off, and if the project comes again, it will relight the verify engine ordinary, if no longer, you're ok. driving round isn't what resets the verify engine ordinary... some autos, if a short and in no way significant issue, after 3-4 restarts and the project would not reoccur the ordinary will flow out by technique of itself. note that once you've the codes deleted, or you make certain to disconnect the 12v battery for a couple of minutes to bathe the codes, that the vehicle's pc(s) will note that the computers are literally not waiting. you usually favor to emphasise round for yet another 2 hundred miles or so before the vehicle will be waiting again. that is significant to understand if you're only attempting to get rid of the ordinary for a state protection/emissions try.

It's a short most likely in the dash panel. When the ignition switch is off, the power should be terminated with the exception of a couple of things such as the clock etc. We've owned a lot of Toyota's and that's a first to me that it's "normal" as stated by the previous person. NEVER had one that stayed on when the ignition is in the off position!

You can reset it yourself. All you have to do is disconnect the
negative battery terminal and wait for a couple minutes and put it back on. It should clear up. I don't know where you are from but where I'm from, you can not take emission test if your check engine light is on.

That is normal. It shows you that they are working each time you crank up. If they stay on while the engine is running then you have a problem

my mom has a 2004 toyota rav4 and used to have a 2001 toyota sienna and it sometimes did that too. most of the time it's nothing. you probably should take it to the dealer and they can reset it for you.

Take it from me....It's probably just a small short in the wiring, plus you said it yourself the car is running fine. Its just a short in the wiring.
