A subacromial decompression and a repair of a small tear should heal a lot faster than someone who has had repair of a massive tear. You can probably count on 4-8 weeks of PT.

If you have a rather sendentary job such as desk work, then you could potentially be back to work in the next week or two...if you are a baggage handler at the airport, count on being off for 3-6 months. In contrast, people who have large tears repaired who work physical jobs can be off as long as 6months to a year, .

It really depends on the nature of the work you do...be sure to discuss what your job entails to your surgeon.

You will be off work for several months if they repaired a tear. Since you seem to have forgotten what the doc told you as to how long your recovery time is call the office and speak with is nurse about this. If I remember right my doc said I would be off a couple of months if they had to repair a tear. I thankfully have not needed the surgery yet.

If you have a job that is just slightly physically demanding, you can count on being out of work for several months. If the cause for injury was in some way job related, file for disability.

Do everything your doctor says. Go to therapy sessions and take LIQUID GLUCOSAMINE. I know of a really good product called FLEX. It is sold over the Internet. It is liquid so your body can absorb it really fast and help heal the muscles and joints. Check out http://www.enivamember.com/188138

Hope you get well real soon.
