When you say songs from a CD - you mean a music CD?? If so, then you need a "ripper" May I suggest CDex? It is freeware and will extract audio files from music CD's and convert them into several formats including MP3.

We use itunes for everything. This seems to be the One-Stop for us. I'm sure there is another way for those who are more High-tech, but this works good for me. We manage (3 of us) all of our music through itunes.

most places like realplayer, musicmatch, or itunes you can download their software for free. hope this helps.
