Like a old cars they brake down and yes you can fix them but in a few months they may brake down again. As for the war we could stay there in Iraq and fix all the problems over time but when we leave it is very possible that it will not say that way left it. It could brake down again like a old car. So my question is with the above thinking is it smart to hold on to something we have no control over?

Works for the Civil War too.... What was Lincoln thinking ??? Dang him, I guess he, unlike all those angry tired of war citizens, thought this Nation was worth saving...... Oh wait, do I have this wrong ??? Maybe you're saying the Iraqi people are not worth saving... Hmm mm either way , I disagree with you.....

So what do we do? Walk to work? Buy a new car?
In your analogy walking to work would be we further limit ourselves (security wise) just becasue something seems to be trouble. You never know that next part you replace on your old car might kepp it going for another 100K miles, but walking away to leav eit on the side of the road you know exactly what you will get. It will get vandolized, tires stolen, burned out. And your stuck walking because you didn;t want to put in the work to fix your car
Or buy a new one....bomb Iraq back to the stoneage and build our own little utopia in the sand...

By giving up we lose all control. It would be nice if we had a few more buddies to give us a ride now and then...but it looks like its just us, our tool kit and this old car for now...we need to stick with it and make the best of it

The car needs compacted, never to break down or be fixed again.

It was a lemon from day one.
