why is it that when i have a deep thought or try to think really deeply/in detail about a complex concept of life/earth that i end up falling asleep or dozing off? is this a way of the human body demonstrating that we are not meant to think too deeply about certain concepts/aspects?

I think we are. I would say that because there are things in our lives that are difficult to accept, or painful. Therefor we try to avoid them. But when we do think about it, it begins to get depressing. Therefor, we slow down.

No - I don't think we're limited. Falling asleep only means that you are going into subconscious mode, where you can often figure things out from there, which you can't figure out consciously. Just because you're asleep, doesn't mean your thoughts stop. They just move to the deeper level.

Of course we are limited, but you falling asleep is a different story. you are just tired. Walk around while you think deeply.
