My doctor knows I suffer from major depression and during one of my appt. I got very emotional and upset. She in turn argued with me and then walked out of the room, leaving me there in tears and more upset than before. She also knows that my last psychiatrist walked out in the middle of my appt. with her and how that too f**ked me right up. After the incident with my doctor, all the receptionist in her office are now treating me like a queen, is this because they are afraid that they could lose their business? Do I have grounds to take this to court?
Please help and please be kind about the answer you give.

No, I'd say probably not, and it wouldn't be worth it, or get you anywhere to sue your doctor. (I take it you mean a psychiatrist in this instance)
Their methods are questionable, but perhaps what they did was for a reason. They had a means to do it. Eg. To see, observe how you react. And/or to allow you to deal with the emotions youhave in reaction to the doctor walking out. And also, for the doctor to then help you with coping with this on your own in the future.
Plus many psychiatrists believe in 'breaking" the person down first, and then rebuilding them. This Freudian approach may be what is going on.
Other psychiatrists, counselors, people in the field, do not believe in this same method. I think the breaking down is traumatising, and rarely do they get to the point of building you up. And let's remember that the rebuilding may be like brainwashing, and not be who you really are.
Personally I think this was perhaps an unethical action that this psychiatrist took, since it was so disturbing to you.
But you must also remember that you are depressed, and may be experiencing things much more profoundly than you would normally. Perhaps, these people aren't really being that mean; and usually even if they were you would react differently, and not take it to heart as much.
Your own perception is altered usually from depression.
I would say, talking to this doctor about your feelings is the next step.
If the doctor, continues to behave in what you think, and/or interprete as unkind, hurtful, harmful; then find another doctor right away. You have to find a psychiatrist that works for you, some you will be happy with, and click with; and others you will not. It is your life, so be careful who you choose to help you with your life.
Some treatment, from psychiatrists can be extremely traumatic, and stay with you for your life; and I think more needs to be done about the way patients are treated in many cases.
Start standing up for yourself directly to the person who you feel hurt you. Eg. Tell the psychiatrist you were angry when they walked out. Let them have it. Tell them outright! Get it out.
More important right now is your OWN life, and sorting out your own depression. Leave the rest aside for now.

perhaps she had to walk out because if she didn't leave she would have said something mean or upsetting to you. Remember, you were acting very upset, she may have been trying to keep some restraint. If you are expressing your depression, not everybody is going to have the patience or be able to deal with it. You have to deal with that fact, as it will be a big part in your life. Dealing with irrational people (and many people get irrational when they're emotional) is difficult. She has other patients that need her time as well, you should respect that.

blue_girl probably right. Your Doctor had to go call her Doctor. Ha!
I would just try to find someone more perceptive to your needs. I do know kinda how you must have felt. When we are depressed and then someone just walk away after arguing the anxiety begins to set in and it really messed up. Be tripping out wondering what going on and start thinking all kinds of weird stuff. Heck, I would have thought she was going after a gun and I would have crawled out through the window.

At mine they did a pap examination, have been given my scientific background, took blood and urine samples, went over do's and dont's for being pregnant, and wrote prescription for prenatal supplementations, and did an ultrasound. i don't think of ultrasound is usual for all first visits, yet I hadn't had a era in 5 months yet did not seem useful until a pair weeks earlier my visit so they did it to objective to ensure how some distance alongside i replaced into. seems i replaced into 6 weeks alongside.

I don't know about taking her to court, but I do think you should write a letter of complaint to her and the American Medical Association. If I were you. I'd find a new therapist! Good luck to you.

Well it's your word against hers. Perhaps if you won't go back there
do you have insurance? I'd complain to the insurance company -
if you can.
Also has this impacted you day to day? I am sure you have lost trust with therapists.
Good Luck.
We had a small issue with a therapist falling asleep on us (my son was seeing a family therapist) he tried to bill us for the co-pay.
Since my son was there too and someone told me he fell asleep on her and their daughter I kind of had a witness!
He dropped the co-pay charge (I was ready to report him to the state board).
Good Luck.

I don't think you could sue her, but I definatly think you need to shop around for another doctor. No doctor, no matter what kind, should ever argue with a patient. She is obviously no good!
