Coming to a college that is closer to Buffalo than Pittsburgh, I have realized that Sabres fans are so full of themselves. I could understand it if their team actually won a Stanley Cup before, but they couldnt even manage that. What makes them think they are the best? They'll just screw it up in the playoffs as usual anyways. Someone please help me to understand this!

Every year there's a team that for some reason people resent their success.

This year it's the Sabs. I went to the first Sabres game ever in 1970, with my dad and fell in love with Gilbert Perrault and the team.

I've been in love ever since. We almost lost this team--where the Pen's are now we were just a few years ago. The '99 finals was a very bitter pill to swallow too---and the Sabres certainly could have won the Cup that year.

The Sabs are a very humble team, very caring, very fan centered. Many players go elsewhere but end up living in Buffalo, it's a warm and friendly town. The economy and weather aside, I wouldn't live anywhere else. (truth be told the weather isn't that bad, no hurricanes, tornadoes, mudslides, earthquakes)

I am so proud of this group of guys. Even with 7 or 8 guys out our farmers come up and find a way. We're not a cheap shot team, I honestly don't know why hockey fans don't embrace these guys. Last year we had NO D-men left in the semi's and still came very close, name another team that could have that many injuries and do as well.

The thing is, I think "real fans", fans that know the game do embrace them. They don't bad mouth the town or it's people. I have cheered every team in this league at one time or another, I've enjoyed every Cup celebration (Dallas '99 aside) and truly love the sport.

We may screw it up in the playoffs, but that won't change the accomplishments of this season or sour the fans. This is true love, maybe that's the part you don't understand.

Go Sabs, we love you no matter what!

Uh, well Sabres fans are full of the team, not themselves. And we think they are the best because they ARE the best. The word fan is a shortened form of the word fanatic. True fans love and support their team. When the team does well, you will hear about it. This is true with ALL sports teams. What Penguins fan is going to say "Oh yeah the Penguins are doing great this season but the playoffs might be a whole other story...I just dont know if they can do it". And maybe the fact that we havn't won a Stanley Cup yet is the reason we want this so bad. Until you can ask a relevant question that isnt just a blatant jab at a city as a whole, maybe you should keep your mouth shut. And anyone who calls Sabres fans bandwagon jumpers should see what their city is like when they have a team thats doing well...OF COURSE people will jump on, but real fans will always be there. GO SABRES!!!

I don't think they are acting more stuck up than any other group of fans.

I'd like to point out 2 things:

1. The Sabres might have won the cup in 1999 (we'll never know) had not Bettman and league officials for some mysterious reason that escapes me to this day, not decided to interrupt a game that was clearly TIED in overtime and begin a celebration to award Dallas the cup.

2. If you're looking for stuck-up fans, try some of the Pittsburgh Penguins fans. Yes, yes, Crosby has a very bright future, and they are a young exciting team, but I an really sick of hearing how great they are when they have yet to accomplish anything. And just for fun, click on some of the questions asking about all-time players. Here's a player (Crosby) who has yet to have 150 points (and won't this year), and he's being picked on some lists over Gretzky and Lemieux. Please. please somebody, give these people a dose of reality.

Given the fact that I live in Buffalo, and am a Sabres season ticket holder, I can say that I dont believe that I am full of myself. However I do support my team to the fullest. I do know that Buffalo is very passionate about their sports teams especially hockey and football. Good or bad Buffalo supports thier beloved Sports teams. You may mistake it for being full of ourselves but you would be wrong. The Sabres are having a fantastic year even in light of the fact that they are missing many starting players....that is enough to get the fans exicited about this team. Maybe this is why you seem to have mistaken the fans for being full of themselves. This year has been a pleasure to behold so far, and I hope it continues. By any chance are you from a rival town (I wont name any specific) LOL!

People in Buffalo have had to deal with lots of disappointment with their sports teams the past 20 years. The Bills have only served to elevate the hopes of the community and then smash them at the last moment. I'd suspect if you lived in Buffalo, the Sabres would seem like a gift from God.

there are various bandwagon followers and "%. bunnies" that purely think of the Sabres are cool simply by fact they are triumphing, yet as somebody who has been watching the Sabres for many of my existence and is familiar with the sport, I nonetheless do not concepts it. greater money coming in potential that the group can discover the money for to pay their terrific gamers to stay positioned, acquire new skills, and safeguard a purifier and greater gentle area for gamers and followers interior the international. It keeps value ticket expenditures down simply by fact earnings won't be able to help yet be made whilst each and every game is a sellout. the biggest reason i don't concepts the bandwagon followers and %. bunnies is using the fact they have toddlers who will in all probability grow to be lifetime followers and doubtless even the subsequent large gamers of the sport. Western New Yorkers have continuously been very related to our activities communities by using thick and skinny, and if some greater human beings sense like driving interior the path of the Buffalo climate to get to video games whilst there's a in all probability risk our group will win, then what's so incorrect with that?

im a sabres fan and have been for all 15 years of my life. i dont thnk we're full of ourselves. when buffalo supports their team, its all or nothing. i mean look at the way we support our bills even though they suck (they do, but i still support them 100%). and this is the closest we have been to a cup since 99 (which was SO no goal) and we're quite proud. everyone else sees our team as a joke who has no talent. why else would guys be able to injure guys like drury and not get a suspension? and we are playing pretty dang amazing with a bunch of rookies and 8 of our regular players out. i dont want to be a stuck up fan but i am proud of my team!

Only one team in thirty wins the Cup evey year so are you saying any fans of any team that is good is full of themselves if their team did not win the Cup? Just because you did not win the Cup does not mean you are not a good team. Even if you are not a good team the fans have a right to be proud of their team and root for them through thick and thin. If you think you can only be proud of of team if they win the Cup then you are a bandwagon fan which is not a good thing.

Ok, Stop with this loyal no matter what argument. Until post lockout your attendance was non-existant. You have never won crap and have no right to be full of yourselves until you hoist the silver trophey. No not the one that Mike Peca didn't pick up after ousting the Leafs in 5 back in 99, but the real silver cup. I bet "most" of you loyal Sabre fans out there have no idea what I am talking about. Wait a min, what was that noise? Oh it was just another job leaving Buffalo. Enjoy the Sabres now because soon your popualtion will be smaller than Batavia.

( i said on top NOT number one, although we have been varying from 1 to 2) thatd be the sabres!! we have every right to be cocky, we've got an amazing team. you sound like if youre team were on top you wouldnt be bragging? people in buffalo are behind this team 1000%, bandwagon fans or not its a good thing. we've got an amazing offense, a killer d and one of the best goalies in the league. not to mention at any given time we can call upon our ahl team and still kick as$. look at those 4 games drury missed... we played amazing not to mention we've got like 7 other guys out. as to "what makes them think they are the best"? well gee let me think? WE ARE!! look at the standings, we are only second to nashville by 2 points (one win) and have played 2 less games than they have.
