Either is fine as long as the psychologist has experience in marriage counseling. It takes someone who understands the workings of a marriage to really be able to help you. It's like going to a specialist vs a general practitioner.

I'm not positive, but I am assuming that a psychologist would have some sort of degree (Bachelor's or higher) from a university. A marriage counselor may or may not have a degree.

As someone said earlier, though, the only difference may be the bill. Because the counselor does not have the paperwork, they may charge less for asking the same questions.

A psychologist is a psychologist, but a marriage counselor, may be just a counselor. It requires more education and training to be a psychologist than a counselor.

Psychologists are mind doctors. Marriage counselors are specifically train in martial problems and how to try to fix them.

pyscologist focuses on your brain and stuff like why your relationship with your mother was bad and thats why you cant make love to your husband anymore without crying. a marriage counselor just puts problems out on the table and is pretty much using communication to solve problems, which alot of time is all you need.

I don't know exactly but I think that a counselor is there just to guide you. A psychologist can prescribe medications. I went to a marraige counselor and she saved us. Was the best thing we did. She was there to listen to both of us and offer advice not preach.

If I had to guess, I'd think a psychologist has more credentials than a counselor. Anybody could probably label themselves "counselor".
