There was a seat in the Senate taht was held by the Tribune of the Plebs, who was actually suppoused to be a pleb himself but this was not always teh case in later years of the Republic.

The Tribune wqas actually a magistrate and he could lay proposals before the Senate. He also had a veto power. His power however, was limited to only within "thye walls of Rome" so he could not represent the masses of people living in the countryside and Roman provinces. The most famout Tribune you may have heard of was none other but Mark Anthony who was appointed Tribune of the Plebs by Julius Ceasar........

The effect on government was incredible since many leaders/generals both patrician and pleb, would use the Tribune position to gain the support of the people so as to elevate their power/positions. As a result, the Tribune position was often seen as a lucrative one because of bribery. Remember, the one thing that patricians feared more than marauding foreign invaders was a slave revolt and/or pleb revolt.....

the plebians were part of the roman empire. they opposed the ruling class of nobles. it changed the government so that they would be elected for senet and council, and they would later gain rights to land. the nobles and plebeians were then equal in most ways. it changed it into a republic.
