D) Sedimentary rocks.

Sedimentary rocks are the rocks normally found in areas that animals would inhabit. They are layered, so sometimes the fossils can be found between layers.

d. sedimentary

Sedimentary rocks, such as sandstone and limestone, are formed by the compaction and cementation of sediments. Igneous rocks are formed by the cooling of magma or lava, both of which are too hot to have anything living in them. So you are not going to get any fossils there.
Metamorphic rocks are altered by heat and pressure, so generally fossils will get destroyed as the rocks are metamorphosed.

Yeah, it's "D". For reasons the other person said and also, dealing with igneous and metamorphic rocks, you are dealing with extreme heats which makes it much less likely for an organism to survive for the cool down process where it would be fossilized.
