I had one after they did the epidural. My mother in law put it in, yeah imagine that one! Best of luck to you. They aren't that bad.

If you get an epidural you will most likely get a cathetar because the epidural numbs you below the waist and you really can't feel if you need to go to the bathroom.

I was induced, and ended up getting an epidural after being in labor for like 24 hours. (I don't want to scare you...I had an spike in my blood pressure and they wanted me delivered.) I only got the catheter after the epidural. When I was laboring without the epidural, there was no catheter.
After laboring for 24 hours, I really didn't care about the catheter!
BTW, 36 hours later and an emergency section, I had a beautiful baby girl!
Have a quick and safe labor!

Only if you are too numb to urinate. I had an epidural with 3 of my kids and only had to have a quick-catheter with one of them. With the other 2, I didn't have the epidural long enough to prevent me from being able to feel to urinate.
With my other child, I had a c-section and a spinal, so yes, I had to have one.

My first labor grew to become into 23 hours pushed for 3... her shoulder have been given caught. She grew to become into 8 lbs a million oz.... 19 a million/2 inches long. She mandatory oxygen after delivery because of the fact she got here out gray and not respiratory. My 2nd grew to become into six hours. Went from 6-10 centimeters in ten minutes and then in user-friendly terms pushed for yet another 17 minutes. She grew to become into 9 lbs 9 oz.. 22 a million/2 inches long. My 0.33 grew to become into 28 hours and that i pushed for extra or less 2 hours. His head have been given caught. They tried a vaccuum extraction which did no longer artwork so as that they actually had to pull him out with forceps. He grew to become into 9 lbs 5 oz.. 20 a million/2 inches long. All have been back labors that have been precipitated and my toddlers all got here out looking up as a exchange of down. i assumed that the 0.33 time around may be the least puzzling, whether it grew to become into genuinely the worst one among all. I continually reported it grew to become into because of the fact he's a boy... had to be difficulty from the commencing up.

I was given a catheter when they gave me the epidural. Up to that point, I hadn't needed one. I guess they figured if I was numb I wouldn't be able to control my bladder. I never even noticed it going in.

If you have an epidural (for pain), you must have a catheter, because you will not be able to feel when you have to use the bathroom.

Yes, but you should not feel it if you are already numb from the spinal or epidural. Good luck.

I didn't get a Catheter with either of my pregnancies, but I had them both without pain medication.
