Well..I'm British and I can say... No, the British are not more friendly than the Germans. (we are all the same) I have many German friends and I think they are all very friendly people:))
You know British are meant to have 'stiff upper lip' but I don't think that is true either. Whenever I travel people always think I am Italian because I am 'open' and 'friendly' But that's not true I'm British.
I met one German guy who said that is impossible all British people are cold. But the only British person he knew was one women living in a small Northern German town who was homesick because she couldn't speak the language. No wonder she was miserable!
I think it is impossible judge people on national stereotypes. We are all individuals. Some people are friendly others are not..but it doesn't depend on nationality

All this "who's friendlier" stuff is prejudiced nonsense. Germans prefer it if you learn their language instead of assuming that everyone speaks English. If that makes them unfriendly, then more power to 'em.
