Last night the left side of my stomach hurt when I was sitting up, and went all the way through to my back, and when I was laying down I felt nauseous, but the pain would go away in my stomach after a while. If it is an ulcer, what can I do to make it go away on my own, or do I need to go see a doctor-I don't really want to though, because I feel like I waste their time. If you have any ideas please help me! I'm afraid of vomitting, and I don't want it to get to that point.

Unfortunately, you do need to see a doctor, so they can prescribe medication for you if it's an ulcer. Also, do not take ibuprofen (Advil) or naprosyn (Aleve) as this can only make the situation worse. You also need to see the doctor, because if it's not an ulcer, then they can properly diagnose your condition (Abdominal pain is a very common ailment and could be a number of things...appendicitis, gallbladder, ulcer, etc) You should never diagnose yourself. Hope this helps.

An ulcer causes pain right around the breastbone and the pain is like a gnawing sensation that burns constantly. If it is an ulcer the pain usually subsides by eating or taking antiacids, although it didn't work for me. Some of the symtoms you describe sound like the complications that result from ulcers and that means you need to see a doctor immediately. If your lucky, the worst he can say is that it is a pocket of air.

In my experience, if it's an ulcer you would have been writhing in pain. It sounds like some sort of gsatrointestinal problem, but not perhaps, an ulcer. Go get it checked out anyway. If it is an ulcer, you don't wanna mess with it.

You need to see a dr. Those can be symptoms of many things, including gallstones. You are not wasting their time. That is what you are paying them for.
