When I'm older I would like to be an English teacher. Does anyone know how to do this and what highers I would require to get into university?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi I did this some years ago now!!!! I'd definitely get a BA in English Lit/Lang something like that not a BEd. You canthen do a one year PGCE course or the Graduate Teaching Programme and acquire two qualifications rather than just one in teaching! PGCE is tough though; although the three years of reading books was pretty relaxing!!!!

Just make sure you have some highers in English Lit or Lang or both and whatever else you fancy. Highers are not as useful as they might seem at the time you are taking them!!

Hope this helps!

Go to college. Go into secondary education.....get your bachelors then go on to get your Masters, EDS and doctorate (if you want to teach in college) If you just want to teach secondary eduaction you can get certified once you have your bachelor's in Education and then get the other degrees to higher you pay and upgrade your certification status. Contact your local college or talk to your highschool counselor for colleges that offer a great education program.

idk if this would help, but my college [bridgewater state] is becoming a university soon and it's one of the top 3 schools in the US for teaching.
