I don't and only have been depressed one time in my life about my birthday. I was 27 years old and felt as if I were really getting old, but ever since then I have always enjoyed my birthdays. It's wonderful to see the ones you love and the different ways they express their love when they celebrate your birthday. I love all the kidding and jokes about getting older. I determined within my self that depression would not be apart of my birthdays. I just turned 49 years old in February and can't believe all the things I've got to look forward to and I'm a grandmother (4 times). How can anyone be depressed with so many to love and celebrate with, besides I've heard that these days your not even old when you do reach 80. Keep yourself healthy and take care of yourself.

I've never understood how people can get hung up on things like a number. Your birthday is just another day, albeit perhaps a time to celebrate and spend time with family. The sun will rise and set and the world will go on. Your are only as old as you feel.

Not really depressed, but I am leery of how I'll feel about my upcoming 40th. My husband did get it off to a very nice start though by surprising me with booking a Disney cruise!

i do because you are celebrating the passage of time, and as much as you might hate it (like i do) you realize that you are getting older and there's nothing you can do about it!
