I do not have any positive knowledge that a foreign power paid Stan Lee to kill off Captain America. But it would not surprise me.
I do not even necessarily think that Stan Lee has any fears that any Muslim terrorist might possibly kill him if he kept publishing Captain America.
No, I think that Marvel wants to branch out into publishing in other countries, and they think they will earn more money by not having a character that makes America look good. In other words, they may not be traitors. They are probably just sellouts
Watch for them to come out with a new character, Captain Multicultural, who will refuse to work with SHIELD because it promotes American interests.

Americans in general. Bush and his crew, politicians on the right and the left, Democrats and Republicans. Congressmen and women who sell out the public good for the interests of the wealthy. Congressmen and women too interested in maintaining their own power and poll numbers to stand up to corruption and tyranny in the White House. American corporations with no loyalty to their country ready to sell out tot he highest bidder.
But also, the American public. We who are apathetic, who are more interested in ring tones than in what's going on in the world. We lazy, over-entertained, overweight, stupid masses are just letting this country collapse into debt, fascism, and imperialism. Americans who believe politician's lies and who scapegoat others instead of recognizing their own fault.
We all killed America. The cancerous rot within is what brings on collapse.

The arabs.
muslims were probably pissed that they had a character called "captain america" thus implying that a hero wasn't muslim or some crap like that.
They probably threatened to blow up and kill the employees of marvel comics.
Think its far-fetched? look at the reaciton to the danish cartoons and the cow-towing attitude of papers choosing to limit thier free speech so as to not offend anyone.
