I cook almost every night for my husband....and it feels like he always has a problem with my food....he says it tasted really good, but maybe the meatloaf was a little too "tomatoey"....or, I'll bring him a burger or a sandwhich, and it's, "I like my buns toasted!" ....Or the meat is a little "on the dry side" A few weeks ago I learned how to make a Rueben sandwich (one of his favs) and he said it was good....but when I went to make it this time, he asked to please butter the bread on the inside, because he didn't like how last time the butter got all on his fingers....this is making me feel like I can't do anything right!

As the cook and the husband of a picky eater, yours is just being a jerk, My wife doesn't like seafood, so I don't make seafood, she doesn't bash what I do fix, or 2 things would happen
1. I'd stop cooking all together, and tell her why
2. I'd fix myself dinner IE. seafood and she could fend for herself

At my house we thank whom ever fixes dinner, that the rules, whether you like it not, because took the time to prepare it.

You are cursed with someone who is a perfectionist about food. If he doesn't drive you crazy in other ways then you can just accept this as his crazy quirk and live with it or tell him you are not perfect and don't intend to try and be. I have dated women in the past that no matter what restaurant we went into they always had to send their food back to be cooked longer, it didn't taste fresh, or it was slightly browned too much. Some people are that crazy. You could also try one other thing. Cook him something that tastes so awful that even the dog wouldn't touch it(nothing harmful!) Make sure it's nothing he can tell by seeing it(put salt in a cake instead of sugar). When he tastes it and his face gets twisted and he starts complaining about it - smile and say that he never likes the way you make it anyway and you're tired of the criticism. That my stop it.

I have this problem when I cook for others or when they may cook for me. The MEAN thing to do would be is to say "MAKE YOUR OWN GD DINNER". I can be picky too & I'll request certain things done a certain way: like I like my gravy for my mashed potatoes on the side for ex. IF you want to keep trying to please him ask him what you can do better or do what I said b4 & tell him 2 make his own food the way HE likes it & then he can't complain. I've worked in restaurants & have met many picky eaters. I thought I was the worst but I was wrong. TG! Good luck.

I would have to say he is just being very picky?
How long have you two been married?
Just tell him you don't like the way he criticizes you about everything you cook and if he is going to keep on doing it you will stop cooking for him and he can feign for himself. Let him know your trying your hardest and you would like a little bit of appreciation for it...
I don't think you should feel like you can't do anything right, your trying your hardest and he should respect that.
Talk to him and tell him what you told us it will do you more good

Everyone's saying he's a jerk, But there's something everyone is forgetting to say he is used to his mother's cooking..which could be really good or just whatever, I mean that's what he's used to. I would not be hurt by it which is easier to say than done. BUT i would also like to say through the years he'll get used to how you do things and be picky about other people's cooking.. =) all in good time honey..good luck!!

So don't make anything, when he complains say A. you complain about my food when I cook B. cook yourself, your the expert or C. Since your opinions on my cooking are negative you may take me out to eat every night.

Are you guys newlyweds? It sounds like youre learning what he likes and he is trying to tell you. This is what I went through when we were first married. To me you sound like a very loving wife. He's lucky.

My husband? I'll cook something and he eats it like its the last meal he's ever going to get and when asked if he liked it says "Aw, its okay". Yeah I want to strangle him too. LOL

Tell him to cook for himself. Who made you the slave? If he starts cooking, he'll appreciate how hard it is. Or, just ask him to do 'guy cooking' like grilling. Men like that.

It sounds like you're married to a pain in the azz diva or something. Or maybe he's a "momma's boy" who was always catered to.
