Society seems to be very child-orientated at the moment and having children is the "in" thing to do, but how many of you just don't want them and aren't even remotely maternal/paternal?

Also, does the state of the world have any effect on your decision to not have children? It's quickly becoming a heap of poop and personally I think there's real trouble looming for all of us.

That's me honey. I'm with you. After I graduation, I am going to party and do whatever I want to do like read all the books and watch all the movies I want. And date any man I want. I never want to settle down and have kids. I just am not the maternal type. I would like to buy myself a nice new car and cruise around travel across the United States with no worries in the world. I know I am selfish to have all the fun. It's just that now I am studying a lot to get a degree in college. I already made up my mind to have fun after graduation. I see that people now in their 30's and 40's are so stressed out with their jobs and raising kids that they never have time to do what they want. Too much stress is not good for the human body. By the way I have this biggest fear of giving birth to a baby, it just looks way to painful for me. I am scared of losing so much blood in the process. The whole idea for me freaks me out to the extremes. Rainsing kids is just to expensive and too much responsibility. I am glad that I do not have kids now.

I have mixed feelings.
I mean, in a way, I don't want kids and at the same time, I want to have one when I am older.
( Right now I am 18 and have no intention to get banged up any time soon ).
I think I would make a good and responsible mother, and my kids would end up having good lives and would be assured for success in life.
But, the thing is I don't want to get fat.

We have no kids, both in our mid to late 30's. Yes, the state of the world had a BIG part to play in decisions. People are so ugly about not having kids....one guy at work actually said to me, "What's the point of getting married if you are not having kids?" I almost felt sorry for him!

I'm not remotely maternal and don't ever want children. I like my freedom and money! I don't want anyone to put restrictions on me, and I don't want to have anyone depend on me for everything. Plus, nappies and puke... Urgh!

Don't want kids. That thought of birthing one or even raising one scares the daylights out of me. Plus babys where there born are more fragil then a vase.

Parenting is not an option in my life. I like the freedom I have and I have enough stress in my life................Raising children in this day and age is not real smart because there is so much out there........like I said, I have enough stress and love my freedom
