An Ipod is an mp3 player. If anyone tells you different they don't know much about electronics. There are many good mp3 players on the market so you have a good choice.Ipods have many disadvantages such as
1.they can only use one program to synch with your computer, oth er devices such as creative or cowon can use Windows media player or thier own software

2. ipods have DRM (digital rights management), they can only work with one computer only, if you have media on two computers such as a laptop and a desktop you cannot use both.

3. Ipods have a high battery failure rate,Apple just settled a civil class action lawsuit againist them and they are involved with oanother due to thier scratch prone screens

4.Other mp3 players have better sound quality creative players are rated at 97 DB s/ratio(anything above 90 is considered good)
while ipods have only 82

5.most mp3 players have a built radio reciver and voice recorder
included but these are extras for an ipod

6. ipods do not support the more popular audio formats like WMA,flac or ogg, or the the more popular video formats divx,WMv,mpeg1

Top rated players are
1. The cowon D2
2.Cretive vision:m
3. Iriver Clix
4.Samsung Yp5z
5.Sandisk Sansa 2700

Good luck in your search

I would say an iPod is in my opinion. I had a Sony MP3 my boyfriend got me for my birthday. It was ok for awhile, but then my friend told me about this site where you can get a free iPod is you sign up to buy 5 Disney DVDs for $5. A few weeks alter I got my free iPod and it is A MILLION times better than my old MP3 player. I didn't like the shape of it which made it hard to handle when on the treadmill/cross trainer. Also it only held 800 songs. My free iPod holds 7000. Go to this site to find out more: http://ipods.freepay.com/?r=36920289. It's super easy and takes a couple weeks, but I got the movies in about a week though... hope that helps!

I have a video ipod, and I love it. I can put movies, tv shows, pictures, whatever on it. I like it alot better than other mp3 players I have had. The only problem is that it gets a little pricey. The video ipod itself was $250, and if youre downloading from itunes, nothing is free. So I guess it depends on what you want to use it for, and what your source of music, etc is. I've never heard of insurance for an ipod before.

The Ipod has better PR, but the zune is better. The Ipod has a huge problem. When you put about 4 gigs of music on it, it sometimes freezes. This happens with any MP3, but the Ipod cannopt have the battery removed. Therefore, you can do nothing but let it drain out, for like 8 hours!

It depends. You can get an mp3 thats similiar to an ipod but you won't pay less. You can get some mp3's for cheap. I have an ipod and i love it. Cute cases. Easies to use w/ itunes. Can buy your songs off itunes easily or use cds, other mp3s you have to have a whole other program to buy music; plus the itunes music is a better deal than a cd plus you can buy like just one or two songs if you want. Nicer. - of ipod= scratches easy and can have technical difficulties. I used to have an mp3, its great if your just going to work out at the gym, but if your all about the music go for ipod! I've had both and i luv my ipod better. Also don't have to change batteries which is a plus, you just have to recharge and this also keeps your songs up to date. You can also get free podcasts for ipod.

iPod is a family of products by Apple/Macintosh, plays more then just MP3s. An MP3 player only plays MP3s. No insurance is required by law.

The best thing right now is Microsofts ZUNE......it does the same thing an Ipod does and more.....it has a bigger screen, it has radio built in, it costs the same, it's comaptible with wmpa, mp3, and itunes files (Which ipod only supports itunes), you can have ur very own screensavers, it's a pretty good music player......Its way better than an Ipod....trust me I work at Radio Shack and we sell both! My customers are more happy with the ZUNE! Try it out!

IPOD its better because it can usually hold more songs, dont have to replace batteries, and it looks cooler. When I got my Ipod i did not have to get insurance or anything like that. The only downside they are usually more expensive.

i think IPOD because they hold more songs and you may find it easier to find accesories to go with it than mp3 players. but IPODs also has a battery built in it.
