I think gays should have the legal right to be as miserable as the rest of us.

I think that people should marry whoever they want, it's not for the government to decide.

My understanding of public opinion is that, at this point, more people oppose legalizing gay marriage, but the younger generation supports it.

Unfortunately for all the gays now, I think it will be a few decades before it's legalized.

BTW, long puzzled about how two people's getting married destroys other people's marriages, I loved a take on that argument I say on The Onion (fake on-line newspaper).

It was an "Ask the person on the street" thing, and the guy said "I'm against anything that undermines marriage. Heck, my wife and I barely tolerate each other now."

;-)

There's also the bizarre argument that, if people are allow to marry any other PEOPLE they want, that that legalizes marriage between a person and a duck.

It's amazing how, when people are wrong, they'll come up with the wackiest reasons supporting their wrongness.

It's funny how it's the "Family Values" crowd that wants to prevent people from forming families.

I don't care if gays have a legal union. I just have trouble with calling it a marriage. That word has a specific meaning just as lesbians are not men and my pickup is not a space shuttle I don't thing the word covers homosexuals.

I know it is semantics but I think we are redefining too many words for the sake of political correctness.

I have even hear taxes referred to as contributions. Contributions to anything are voluntary. Do you thing the speaker meant I didn't have to pay taxes unless I wanted to, yeah right, see you in Leavenworth. No, enough with the PC. Call it a gay union, a domestic partnership or two queers united, I don't care but let's leave the word "Marriage" alone.

Gay marriage should be allowed. It is against the constitution to ban gay marriage on religious grounds. Read the first amendment. However, if gay marriage is banned because the bibile says it is wrong, then are we going to bring slavery back? It says in the book of Leviticus that it is perfectly acceptable to own a person so long as they are of another nation and not of Israel. I can't wait to own a canadian!

With my track record on marraige, and the track record of all my friends and family, I'm opposed to marriage period -- gay or strait. I say live together and be happy!!!! What is marriage anyway? It means different things to different people.

How about Marie Osmond and the Morman church? She can't go to heaven because she's divorced. How about the Catholic church? You can have your "marriage" annulled but supposedly your kids, the issue of that marriage, are still legitimate. I don't get it. If the only biblical reason for divorce is adultry, how about the spouse who beats and humilitates his/her spouse and kids? Does God want us to stay in a "marriage" like that?

People are so worried about gay marriages, that they cant even see the real problems in this world...when immigrants stop overpopulating our country, we are no longer at war, people killing each other, etc...when all those things stop, then I will worry about gay marriage, as for now, who really cares? If you're happy with your life, be happy, but dont try to make others unhappy..... just makes you a terrible person...

I can see some reasons for it, the foremost being that of legal ramifications...wills, hospitalization decisions, testimony in courts etc... heck even taxes.

I mean for the most part anything that has a 50% failure rate would have been banned and or taken of the market.

I don't see Gays getting Married in my life time before the Church and don't think that will ever happen in a Catholic, Protestant Church or Muslim Mosque.
I don't see anything wrong with getting a legal binding contract at the court house.

How the hell is it anyone's business who someone has sex with, as long as it's consensual and of legal age??? Geez folks, pay attention to your own lives and get your noses out of everyone else's! Nothing wrong with gay marriage.

I am not against gays either but what concerns me is the family issues. They might adopt kids and become something like a family but is it gonna be OK for the psychology of those kids???
