First you-- and only you-- must decide to believe whether Bush purposefully made an untrue statement or, made a statement that he believed to be true but was incorrect.
If you chose to believe he purposefully lied then, you must also believe many others, including Al Gore (re: interview with Wm Clinton and A. Gore by Tim Russert circa 1991 Clinton VS Bush presidential race) who pounded his fist on Tim Russerts desk in his critiscm of Bush 1 for not taking out Saddam in the Gulf War (even though Bush had no UN approval to do this) and destroying the Irag WMD's, was lying. You must also believe virtually every other politician ON BOTH SIDES-- that stood up in the House and the Senate and stated the same thing. You must also believe British intelligence, the CIA and other countries intelligence gathering organizations lied. You must also believe that the thousands of Kurd women, children and men killed by Saddam died from a bad cold. You must believe that in the Iran/iraq war, Iranian soldiers did not die of WMD. You must believe that the 4 liter sized cannisters of Sarin gas, which if used properly, could easily kill a quarter of a million people if released in-- for example, a few large New York sky scraper HVAC systems, were not really found in Iraq (but not really reported-- the quantity --picture 4 quart jars-- doesn't seem like much). Sarin gas was used in Tokyo in the subway system. The release was crude but still killed many people in a well ventilated system. They had aproximately 100cc's.
You must also believe the Iraqi air force general who states most of the WMD were sent into Syria just before we invaded Iraq, under the guise of earthquake relief supplies. Saddam did not believe we would actually launch a full scale assult. He did not use WMD against us becuase he didn't have them anymore. There was not much of a fight because they didn't really believe we would do it. Remember the Iraqi foreign minister (Tariq Azis) holding a news conference, announcing the US was defeated and on the run, while our tanks were coming up behind him? That was their mind set. We didn't go after him in the first war, we wouldn't do it in this one-- we would "stop short".
The other choice is, believe Bush did know Saddam did not have WMD's and only he and a few others knew this but decided to invade Iraq for the oil. I'm ok with that but-- why are we paying so much for gas?? We should have invaded China! They are buying cars and using gas almost as much as we do (they are the second largest auto market in the world).

I think we may never really know. Perhaps in however may years when the George W. Bush Presidential Library releases some of its more sensitive documents, assuming that they aren't classified as Top Secret, we may get a better answer.

In the meantime, it appears that certain Neo-Cons were calling for a war against Iraq even before 9/11. After 9/11, efforts were made to tie Saddam Hussein to Al-Qaeda and WMD in order to bolster the reasons for going to war.

Did GWB only see part of the evidence (that which supported the case for war)? Or was he part of the process of selecting only the Intel that supported the call for war? If the former, then he did not lie so much as pass on the lies and half-truths he was being fed by others.

As for people dying, of that there is no doubt -- and most of them Iraqi civilians at that. (Something that the US media does not dwell on.)

If bush did not do what he did, the world would have another dictator providing financial aid to terrorists, instead of us being in the offense we would be in the defense, & the best defence is a good offence, believe me we would lose many more lives if we did not do what bush did, did you forget how many lives were lost on one day (september 11), the only thing you can argue is that bushes strategy was not good, so I supose when your president you will have a better strategy of fighting terrorists, I have yet to meet a politician who has never lied, the very definition of politician is liar no matter what you stand for, trust me democrats lie too, it's imposible to please everyone, just vote for who you think is really the best. I only wonder why bush has a double standard when it comes to Israel, why should Israel negotiate with terrorists at all, just destroy them & then you won't need to worry about peace, because the enemy will be afraid to do anything, negotiation is the way to bring terror not peace!

Yep, the question is did he know at the time he was lying, or is he just an idiot who trashed the U.S.A.'s credibility though out the rest of the world, and got a lot of people killed for nothing. If Bush pardon's Scooter Libby, we will know he was always just a liar scamming tax money.

This is a review of our recent history and the destruction of countries and societies by FANATICS.

This should be a wake up call to all Americans; however, tragically the people currently in power of our government pay NO heed to these facts. As a matter of fact they are part of the problem.

I used to know a man whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War Two. They owned a number of large industries and estates. I asked him how many German people were true Nazis, and the answer he gave has stuck with me and guided my attitude toward fanaticism ever since. "Very few people were true Nazis "he said," but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything, I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories."

We are told again and again by "experts" and "talking heads" that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the specter of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam. The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and is gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. The hard quantifiable fact is that the "peaceful majority" is the "silent majority" and it is cowed and extraneous.
Communist Russia comprised Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority was irrelevant. China's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.

The average Japanese individual prior to World War 2 was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet. And, who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were "peace loving"?

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:

Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.
Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because like my friend from Germany, they will awake one day and find that the fanatics own them and the end of their world will have begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late. As for us who watch it all unfold; we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

Lastly, I wish to add: I sincerely think that anyone who rejects this as just another political rant, or doubts the seriousness of this issue or just deletes it without paying heed to it, or sending it on, is part of the problem. Lets quit laughing at and forwarding the jokes and cartoons, which denigrate and ridicule our leaders in this war against terror. They are trying to protect the interests and well being of the world and it's citizens.
Best we support them.

Fanaticism, It seems to me that our government, specifically President Bush, has paid heed and is trying to do something about it. God help us if a certain female Democrat takes over.

Could you please share the legal documents that show the lies. I keep hearing about it and don't have a clue what any of you are talking about.

Being on the inside of politics and the war must be intense for you, but don't you think that insider information that you are refering to should be kept private?

It is such an obvious thing that we don't know all that's going on with the war, other countries, and such. If the public did, and our execution plans (of war) were on tv, it would be...well stupid.

So, please show me your data. I'm just dying to see all this secret info.
