Honestly, personal opinion is all that you will get based on your question. Any manufacturer can be better than any other. The stats of the specific laptop is really the bigger concern. (i.e. processor, ram, storage, drives, bluetooth, etc.) Perhaps you should ask for a comparison between a particular Asus model and another Manufacturer model.

Some people just don't read do they. I was waiting for an asus laptop to come back into stock at www.ebuyer.co.uk. It looked to be very good. In the end I did buy an Acer not Asus which is excellent for a £400 model and is capable of running vista home premium if I decide to upgrade. My son also has an Acer which is dual core and cost over £600. The same machine is now available at www.comet.co.uk at £499, its the 5612wlmi.

Having 2 Acer laptops in our household being used every day is what I can recommend. My son uses is for web design. Hope this helps if you do decide to buy an Asus, I mean Acer

Actually everything is personal opinion. I use Asus Motherboards in Desktop Builds and have been pleased with their performance and price. I use Asus CD/DVD Burner and it fast and quite. At http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Brand=1315&N=2030260032+50001315&Submit=ENE&Manufactory=1315&SubCategory=32 you can look at the Asus Laptops and read people's reviews, but, again, this may be personal opinion, but, they will also mention problems they have.
I know from what I have learned when I buy another Laptop, I going to get an Asus. I have both HP and IBM Laptops and they good too. But, I really want an Asus.
