It seems to me that the famous sculpture by Da Vinci shows an European (and it seems, from the pictures Ive seen, duly uncircumsised). He doesnt look like a handsome jew. Dont u have the same impression?

Gay or not, representing the human figure in a beautiful, perfect manner is NOT an innovation of Michelangelo or Da Vinci. The portrayal of the human body as the pinnacle of creation is a CLASSICAL concept.

As for the answerer, it's likely that the artist assumed the patron would find it inappropriate to heavily detail the genitals of David...

David was done by michelangelo. And perhaps you've often noticed that the traditional renderings of Jesus and the Madonna look decidedly European too?
