i missed your fisrt question, so im guessing you want the music off the tapes onto dvd or your pc?

buy a cheap old reel to reel off ebay, you dont need a revox or akai kit... ferguson will do... and thyre under a tenner..

din lead or phono out the back of it, straight into your soundcard and use something like audacity to record the sound (in real time)

flog the tape player back on ebay...

job done.

and its that easy

Whatever you do, you need to read the following prior to playing those tapes!!!!

Buying 'any old' player is unwise. To get the most information off of those tapes requires a tape deck with decent calibrated heads. Also, you must consider whether your tapes were recorded as half track (1/2) or quarter (1/4) track. Half track deck will not play quarter recorded material. e.g are your tapes recorded on both sides? If so, then you require a 1/4 track.
Are your tapes recorded as 15ips, 7.5ips or 3.75ips? Make certain the machine you purchase can play back the tapes at the correct speed.
IMHO depending on how many tapes you have, i would search out a local recording studio and ask them for a price to copy the tapes onto CD. Using the cd's you can copy these onto your pc.
Anything else just ask...
