I am an American Sign Language student and my dream it to become a sign language teacher or a educational interpreter. I'm looking for some kind of heads up on how and where to start once I'm done. My plan is to finish school and go right into my profession.

The education department at the UNIV you attend should be able to help. Otherwise, contact the state's Department of Education where you might seek employment. Florida has a wonderful school in St. Augustine. Ray Charles was there for a while as a child.

Look very closely at the NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND law in your state. i'm currently a Deaf Education major and i had to add on a minor of History in my junior year so that i can get a job when i'm done b/c a MA is not enough now.

If your state or locale has a Department of Human Services (or known by some other name) I would consult that org. for references.
Some locales even have GROUPS that meet, who commonly do need someone with your skills. %Many CHURCHES need Interpereters that sign before the congregation. - Many organizations (civic, political, and other) are in desperate need of skilled ASL Interpereters.
