I know that he treated slaves harshly and killed more than 10,000 people but what else did he do that made him a villain and what exactly is conquering. I need some information on him too. But don't give me a link to wikipedia because I find it too complicated to understand what they are saying. Please help!
Thanks =]

Conquering is the taking over of land. If you kicked your brother out of his room and took it over, that would be you conquering his room.

Alexander the Great was a great military leader who conquered more land than any single person in history up to this point.

If you want to consider him a villain, consider how harshly he had to drive his soldiers to conquer all that land. They were away form home for long stretches at a time and he ignored their pleas to return.

He wiped out the Persian empire's leadership. He permitted the Persians themselves to keep their own culture and he adopted much of their culture himself.

But one can't make an omelette without breaking eggs, and Alexander certainly broke lots of eggs.

Alexander was from eastern Greece, and he was part of a group of people called Macedonians. His father was a great king called Phillip and he conquered the Greeks. Alexander conquered Persia, Egypt and he even tried to conquer India.

Conquer : To defeat or subdue by force, especially by force of arms.

I don't think he was a villain.

I don't know where you got your information about treating slaves harshly and killing 10,000 people, but don't judge him as you would someone in the modern age - remember he lived 2300 years ago ! Treating your slaves harshly would not have been reprehensible in that age.

As regards his attitude to the peoples he conquered, that also was very modern. He had foreign soldiers in his army and adopted much of the culture of some of those that he conquered - especially the Persians.

Not a villain - but a great military leader.

I'd love to give you lots of links, but if you find Wikipedia too complicated, there's not a lot of point frankly.
